You already know what autism is, you live it. This course is part of the Mindfully Divergent program over at NeuroHub.

What it will do is give you space. Space to explore how your relationship with your Autistic identity has been shaped; by diagnosis, by other people’s language, by systems that were never designed with you in mind. Space to sit with the complexity of that without being pushed toward resolution or positivity. Space to be in a room with other Autistic people who are also figuring this out.

We will move through three areas across the five sessions:

How we “know” autism: the histories, frameworks, and narratives that have defined it, and what it means that those definitions were largely written by people who weren’t Autistic.

Embodying autism: not just as an idea, but as something carried in the body. Sensory worlds, energy, fatigue, burnout, and what the bodymind knows that the mind alone doesn’t always catch.

The Autistic ecosystem: community, connection, and what it looks like to build a life that actually fits you, rather than one you’ve had to fold yourself into.

Each session is discussion-based and runs approximately 90 minutes. There are no lectures. There are no right answers. There is guided mindfulness practice adapted for neurodivergent ways of being, which means movement is welcome, eyes open is always an option, and “just relax” will never be said.

There are two ways to join:

If you’re already a paid member of the NeuroHub Community, this course is included in your membership. Log in at connect.neurohubcommunity.org and you’ll find the Zoom link waiting for you. Shaped by our ethos, the conference centres lived experience, alongside research and education created by neurodivergent individuals themselves—not framed solely through external observation. We move beyond deficit-based, pathology-driven narratives and instead champion the neurodivergent paradigm: one that recognises difference, celebrates creativity, and honours the depth, insight, and potential of those who experience the world in uniquely powerful ways.

Who is this conference for?

Neurodivergent individuals – Diagnosed and Self Identified and those who are unsure are welcome

Parents and families

Professionals and practitioners

Educators and support workers

Advocates and allies

What to expect from the conference

Across three inspiring days, the NeuroHub Mental Health Conference explores the theme “Ecosystemic Causes of Mental Health Issues”—examining how environments, systems, and societal structures shape neurodivergent wellbeing.

From Friday 14th to Sunday 16th August (10am–6pm BST), you’ll experience a rich and varied programme of 40-minute talks, 15-minute lightning sessions, and pre-recorded contributions from both experts and lived-experience speakers. Each session is designed to deepen understanding, challenge traditional narratives, and offer meaningful, practical insight.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn from neurodivergent-led research and perspectives, connect with a supportive community of peers, professionals, and allies, and gain practical strategies you can apply in everyday life or professional practice.

The conference is fully hybrid and accessible, with online access available for all three days—so you can join from anywhere in the world. Day two (Saturday 15th August) also offers an optional in-person experience in Coldean, Brighton & Hove, UK, where attendees can enjoy additional elements including stalls, food, and entertainment alongside the live sessions.

All talks will be recorded and made available to ticket holders, so you can revisit sessions or catch up in your own time.

https://neurohubcommunity.org/2026-autistic-mental-health-conference/

Speaker Line Up

Friday 14th August

Friday August 14th 12:05pm – For neurodivergent people in general, the human ecosystem has grown to be a place that is actively hostile. Our existence within the ecosystem feels like one that is constantly under threat.

This was something that has stayed woth me since I had the thought last year;

How do we conserve our space in an ecosystem that feels like it is rejecting us?

That is why I started NeuroHub Community. A place in the Ecosystem that is made by and for us. A place where we can exist without the constant hostility and existential threat.

Our online community runs via the Heartbeat app, and is also accessible via Web browser. It is an imperfect design, but contains something truly special; a place where neurodivergent people engage in collaborative community building, mutual peer support, and interest-led learning.

I also wanted the community to be as accessible as possible from a financial standpoint. While we have to raise funds in order to maintain the community, the majority of it's content is free.

We currently have the following available for members of the community:

A text based chat space, where people can connect and chat (free)

A body doubling channel where people can share links for things like zoom, or use the video channel to body double immediately on the platform (free)

Three community-connection groups sessions a week (2 for free, 1 for paid access)

1 structured peer-support session a week (paid)

Fortnightly reading group (free)

Access to online events/live pidcast recordings (paid)

Access to courses, webinars, resources, and ebooks (some free, some paid)

If you would like to join us and be part of this growing community, you can do so by clicking the links below. Once you sign up, you Will also be invited to download the Heartbeat app on your smartphone; this is the primary way of accessing the community on your phone.

Paid memberships start at £10 a month, and those whom have paid for a membership feedback that they are really happy they did so.

Here is the link to join:

https://connect.neurohubcommunity.org

I hope to see you there!

David

NeuroHub Community Journal | Newsletter | Announcements is a reader-supported publication. Someone who has actually been there; who knows the texture of it.

At NeuroHub Community, our peer mentoring services are designed to give you mentoring and kinship from a lived experience perspective.

Peer support works because it is grounded in shared experience, not expertise over another person. It is lateral, not hierarchical; and that changes everything about how help feels.

We know that Autistic people are far too often handed support that was designed without us, delivered to us, and evaluated on whether we became easier to manage. NeuroHub Community peer mentoring is none of that; it is a relationship between equals, where your goals, your pace, and your way of being in the world are the starting point, not something to be corrected.

What peer mentoring with NeuroHub looks like

One-to-one support from an Autistic peer mentor with relevant lived experience

Grounded in neurodiversity-affirming, rights-based values; no masking, no compliance frameworks

You set the agenda; your mentor walks alongside you

Practical, relational, and genuinely low-demand; we work with how you are, not against it

Flexible and accessible; we will do our best to meet your access needs

Grounded in our six-point framework developed over a decade of work in the Autistic community by David Gray-Hammond

Who is it for?

Peer mentoring is open to Autistic adults who are navigating any part of life: burnout and recovery, identity and diagnosis, employment and education, relationships, mental health, substance use, or simply wanting a consistent, affirming space with someone who understands. You do not need to be in crisis to access support, you do not need to justify why you want it.

At NeuroHub, we hold the belief that distress is contextual, not pathological. Our mentors are not here to fix you, they are here because connection, recognition, and solidarity are themselves a form of support; because you deserve access to that without having to earn it.

Signing up takes a few minutes. Tell us a little about what you are looking for, and we will get in contact with you to sort our the details. But when they gather, when they move together, they become something else entirely. A current. A tide.

We’ve got a few things happening right now, each one a different doorway into the same shared space we’re building together.

The NeuroHub Book Raffle

We’re running a book raffle through our store; something simple, but meaningful.

Books have always been more than just information for us. They’re connection. They’re language when we didn’t have our own. They’re often the first place we see ourselves reflected back with any kind of honesty.

This raffle is a way of sharing that.

Whether you’re entering for yourself or for someone else, it’s a chance to put more neurodivergent-informed, community-rooted knowledge into the world.

👉 Explore and enter here:

https://neurohubcommunity.org/the-book-store

The 2026 Autistic Mental Health Conference

This one matters.

Our 2026 Autistic Mental Health Conference isn’t just another event, it’s a deliberate space. A space where lived experience isn’t an afterthought. Where theory meets reality. Where we stop talking about Autistic people and start centring Autistic voices.

We’ll be exploring:

Autistic burnout

The ecosystemic nature of distress

What actually works (and what doesn’t) in mental health support

The messy, human, non-linear process of recovery

It’s for practitioners, for Autistic people, for families; for anyone who knows that the current system isn’t enough and wants to be part of building something better.

👉 Find out more and get involved:

https://neurohubcommunity.org/2026-autistic-mental-health-conference/

Support Us Through EasyFundraising

This is probably the easiest way to support us—and it won’t cost you anything extra.

Through EasyFundraising, you can raise money for NeuroHub just by doing your everyday online shopping. No extra steps, no added cost—just a small rediction of something you’re already doing.

It’s one of those quiet, almost invisible forms of support. The kind that doesn’t feel like much in the moment, but over time… it builds.

👉 Sign up here

Not everything has to be big to matter.

A raffle entry.

A shared link.

A conversation sparked by a conference talk.

A purchase that quietly sends a few pennies our way.

This is how communities grow, how we keep offering the supportand community that we offer.
