Autistic April is just around the corner, this means we have to prepare ourselves for being spoken over, ignored, and belittled as Autistic people in the name of so-called “Autism Awareness”. Personally, I won’t sit by and let non-Autistic people speak over us, so here are some examples of offerings available at NeuroHub Community this year that I hope will off set the weight of April.
Embracing Our Autistic Selves
Our live course Embracing Our Autistic Selves is returning at the start of may, it will run weekly across six fridays and aims to help Autistic people develop tools and skills for a positive sense of Autistic identity using mindful practice, guided learning, and group discussion.
The 6 lessons are:
The History Of Autism
What Is My Relationship To Autism?
What Does Autistic Identity Mean To Me?
The Autistic Bodymind
Discovering The Rhizome
A Final Q+A Session to wrap it all up
The course is currently available for free to Supporter+ subscribers in the NeuroHub Community Space (more info on that below), or it is available for either a one-off payment of £50 or 5 installments of £12. Spaces are limited so make sure to grab your access early in order to avoid disappointment. Our last run through of this course went so well, i’m excited to bring you this course with it’s new developments!
NeuroHub Online Community
Our flagship NeuroHub Community is a growing and thriving network of Autistic and otherwise neurodivergent people engaging in mutual peer support and community connection to combat the isolation and stress that so many of us feel.
Free members get access to the chat space, and one free community Drop-In session a week. Paid members get access to two community drop-ins, the mindfully divergent peer support sessions (weekly), and a fortnightly neurodivergent reading group.
Supporter+ members get access to all of that, plus free access to all courses on NeuroHub and free on-to-one sessions with me (David) per my availability. If you would like to join our community, you can do so below.
Re-Storying Autism On-Demand Course
Re-Storying Autism is another one of our launch products, co-created with Helen Edgar
There is an almost 400 page workbook, and an on demand video-course to either compliment each other or be accessed seperately.
The aim of this course is to help people better support Autistic people, even if that person is yourself!
Autistic Mental Health Conference
We can not forget to mention the Autistic mental health conference we are hosting again this year from August 14th-16th. So far we have three confirmed speakers with more waiting to be announced:
Dr. Nick Walker
Tanya Adkin
Myself (David Gray-Hammond)
Bobbi Elman (Pre-Recorded)
This conference will bring together lived experience, professional practice, and academic knowledge creation to support attendees in developing a comprehensive knowledge of Autistic mental health, why we struggle at a higher rate, and how we might start addressing the roots of these issues.
There will be 18 full length (40 minute) talks, 11 lightening (10-15 minute) talks, and many pre-recorded webinars for on-demand access with your ticket.
Early-Bird Tickets are available right now for a 15% discount and can be purchasedby click the button below.
